If you were to come by my house at lunch time on any given day and didn’t see us outside, you’d likely find us sitting on our kitchen table staring out the window. Our garden is alive with birds! Sometimes we pop the window open a little and listen to their calls and songs. Leif whispers reminders that we should be quiet so as not to frighten the birds away. Sometimes I pull out my camera and sneak a few shots through the open window of what we see.
At the moment, we have Oregon Juncos, Hermit and Swainson’s Thrushes, Yellow Crowned Sparrows, Varied Thrushes, Robins, Starlings and my long time favourite Steller’s Jays.
The meal planning went a little haywire the last few weeks but I’m back in the saddle today with a plan. This week I’m making:
- Roasted Tomato Soup with Caesar Salad (my family’s recipe soon)
- Mjeddrah
- Roasted Cauliflower Soup with sautéed Asparagus
- Lemon Lentil Soup
- Roasted Yam and Swiss Chard Enchiladas
- Parsley and Pumpkin Seed Pesto on Roasted Veg
I’m hungry already…
Stellar’s Jays are so intriguing to look at. :-)
We have a backyard filled with birds too. Easily my favourite part of living here.
I loved sitting there with you guys and watching the birds also… and tiny squirrels and the deer… and well everything :)
I’d love to sit and bird watch with you guys. I’ve never heard of the birds you mention!
We just moved our dining table so we can see out of the window. There aren’t many birds in our yard so it’s a real treat when the little blue tit comes to the cherry tree or the blackbird hops into the flowerbeds.
Great to have you back in the blogging groove. I’m also hungry reading your meal plan ;)
gorgeous bird!
