On the way home from the lake yesterday, my friend Kim asked me if I wanted to go with her to the Edge of the World music festival for the weekend… leaving today.
This means a six hour ferry ride over to Haidi Gwaii, walking on of course with all our camping gear and three children under the age of seven.
Oh my. I badly want to go so after a quick check with the weather forecast and I started to pack. We have to be smart about food because we can’t carry much extra since we already have our hands full! We have arranged a ride with a friend on the other side to take us up island to the campsite across from the festival grounds.
I won’t be taking my camera, as much as I really wish I could. (And I really really wish I could.) With so much stuff to carry and watch over and no where to lock it up when I don’t want to have it on me, I don’t think it’s a good idea. I’ll take my little broken down point and shoot instead. *sigh*
I have a ginormous back pack with tent, thermarests, clothes, rain gear, shoes. Two sleeping bags stuffed in stuff sacks ready to be put in my Chariot stroller for Leif to sit on. Lastly, I have a bag of food and kitchen stuff that will also fit in the stroller.
So here I sit wondering what I’ve forgotten to pack and waiting for my kids to wake so I can make some breakfast and have a shower before we’re picked up to go to the ferry terminal.
I know we’ll have the best time!
Enjoy!! It sounds like the spontanaeity will carry you right along!! Don’t forget to dance!!
Have a great time Annie. Sounds like just the kind of spontanaeity I like. xo
You’re so adventurous! And ditto what Erin said–dance, mama! Can’t wait to hear about it. Sounds like a blast.
This post just tickled me… I love the spontaneity!!
I bow down before you woman… This is awesome!
