I’m feeling a reawakening of myself.
I’ve been lucky enough to be spending some time with Krista and her family lately and she’s really energised me to tap into my NVC roots. I don’t think all that I’ve learned and applied to my life, in regards to NVC has disappeared over the years but in actually using the terms and wording again, I’m back on the path to growing and learning.
Years ago, I met someone online with similar values and interests. We also had daughters who were only months apart in age. It was lovely. We each only had one baby in our care and talked everyday, sometimes for hours while we nursed, cooked, cleaned…. Our NVC style conversations were the most amazingly helpful and fulfilling chats. Being heard and understood, and sharing empathy was so… what we needed. Anyway, life happened and we lost touch. :( I’ve been really enjoying connecting again with someone who’s as interested in NVC as I was/am.
I feel inspired and I feel energised! Thank you, Krista!
Cam and I have been listening to the NVC audio cd’s my friend had made me years ago. I’d forgotten that I even had them! It’s a thrill to see efforts being made by not only Cam but occasionally my daughter as well, in holding off on making a reaction and look for a more compassionate way to communicate.
Our connection is as much of a blessing to me for the same reasons, plus many more. I am not worried about losing touch if/when you move away. I have a hunch that there is too much connecting us to let any amount of miles get in the way. Although I will miss having you right down that hill from me. I don’t really want to think about that just now when I don’t have to. Anyway, let’s keep it (NVC, connecting, sharing, etc…) going wherever life takes us, huh?!
I have to admit that I have never read anything about NVC… but I would love to learn more…
I wish I lived closer to you all…
(btw… is it weird that the first thing I saw in your pics is your location before I looked at you and Lily…. I think I have issues…)
I wish you lived closer too. Did it make your heart leap to see Nelson? :D That must have been taken in 2005 during a trip with someone living in Edmonton now….
It’s so nice when you find people you really connect with!!
Sneaky eyes… those photos of you and Lily are so cool. I was trying to place where those photos were from – it’s so flat! I’m so glad you and Krista have been able to connect and that you haven’t let your upcoming departure get in the way. I look forward to learning more from both of you too.
