We finally arrived home yesterday from our trip to Vancouver. We all seemed a bit out of sorts after that visit. Nothing new there. It’s always like that when visiting the city and family. Hopefully we’ll all be back to normal in a couple days. It was wonderful to sleep in my own bed last night in our dark, cool bedroom with the familiar sounds of police chases and stumbling drunkards in the early morning. Okay, so it isn’t as quiet here as it could be but it is much more quiet than staying in Vancouver and at least I’m used to the noises here, right?

We had a wonderful visit though with Paxye and her family. Meeting irl for first time in years of knowing her was easy and better than I could have imagined. Our children really got on well together too. I’m really looking forward to the longer visit when they come here and stay in the upcoming weeks.

While the main purpose of my trip was to visit with Paxye for a couple days before she heads off to see more BC family and friends, I tied in a visit with my extensive family as well while I was in the lower mainland. (I’ll have a longer and more personal posting about this on the more private parts of my site.)

I took *zero* photos. Okay, I have four from the ferry ride over. One that Lily took of me squinting in the bright sun with Leif sleeping in the becco on my back, one of the water trailing behind the ferry and two that Lily insisted on getting of herself walking like River from Firefly. She even wanted a video taken so she could see for herself how much she could look like River.

The other reason I didn’t take photos is I knew that my camera just wouldn’t be able to compete with Paxye’s new Pentax. I didn’t realise, however just how true that would be and was left lusting over her new camera. Oh how I want one now! I’m looking forward to trying our old Pentax lenses on it when she comes. I’m thinking this is the next of our big purchases. Who knows when that will be but I’ve bumped it right up to the top of the list!

On the EC front, there is good news. I took about eight diapers and a few underpants with me for Leif and it looks like it was seven diapers too many! We had only a couple uncaught pees while we were gone despite all the travelling and change obviously being a bit confusing to Leif. Because we don’t normally drive that often (or at all these days), I took all the opportunities I could to drive when he slept. This was good for my driving but Leif was always waking up somewhere new. I’ll continue to keep my expectations low though in case it isn’t so easy now that we’re home.

It’s good to be home!

It sounds like Leif is so close to being out of diapers completely! I was surprised at how few diapers we used when we went away too, though definitely more than one. :) I’m glad you had a good trip and I can’t wait to meet Paxye too when she comes over.

I’m looking forward to the no diaper days. It’s not like it’s a lot of work or anything- it’s just, I don’t know, nice to move on.

I’m looking forward to her visit too!
