Lily’s riding her two wheeler on her own!

Lift off!!

This is the first house we’ve lived in where it’s possible and safe for biking riding in the neighbourhood, so it’s taken a long time for Lily to really become comfortable on her own bike. Earlier this summer she was struggling with wanting to learn and being too scared to try. It was frustrating to see but we didn’t push it.

Going to the 'sweet spot' on the hill

The other day Lily told our neighbour she wanted to ride her bike and Lily was offered the opportunity to use their ‘magic’ riding bike. I guess all their kids and various other neighbourhood kids successfully learned to ride a bike on that one bike. It worked it’s magic on Lily too because she’s now enjoying riding her own bike, which is a much better size for her! Now she just has to get better so we can put the seat up to the right height!

Yipee! So exciting- and I love that it happened on the magic bike! That is such a sweet story for her to have of her first bike riding experience.

  3. Aww… Magic Bike indeed!
That is tender reminder to me. I taught myself to ride a bike at 5 years old. I was so quietly proud. I felt so very very grown, older and bigger. It was as deeply felt as when I could reach the taps and see it in the mirror all at the same times and seemingly on the very same day!
    lol
    Aww, way to go Lily!

Thanks so much everyone! We are so proud and Lily’s so excited about this! She’s been wanting to ride around with all the other kids in the neighbourhood and now she’s that much closer.

  8. Sweet! It never hurts to have something like a magic 2 wheeler around! My mom and I were going through old photos when I was visiting last week and apparently I learned to ride when a family friend was looking after me while my mom was giving birth to my youngest sister. I remember the first pedals but had no recollection that mom and dad weren’t there! Hi five for Lily!
