I finished my sun hat shortly before leaving for our trip to our cabin. It was a wonderful hat to have on hand despite not loving the final fit. There has been a lot of complaint about the sizing of this hat’s pattern. I suppose this has more to do with the fact that we all have different sized heads and tastes than anything else. I decided to make the hat to the pattern’s specifications and at the last minute changed the height of the crown. I will make this hat again, but this time I’ll also make the hat wider. Guess I have a big head because it felt like it was on top of my head more than around my head.

The pattern is from Lotta Jansdotter’s Simple Sewing and inspired by this one. I just had to make one too.

Ack! I can’t believe I didn’t iron it before the picture!

Sun Hat

Love this fabric

I’m still catching up with what everyone’s been up to in the last week. I also have to post about our trip and the book giveaway is coming soon!

  1. Oh! Full of “The Cuteness”. The word jaunty comes to mind.

I love the fabric. A sun hat would be lovely. Hmmm, maybe next year.

  3. Love it! Do you think a beginner could make this?

By the way, I shared your site with my sister. She said, “Your friend Annie has a lot of INCREDIBLE recipes!” This is a huge compliment coming from her!

    Lisa :)

  4. Lindsay says:

I really love that fabric. Where did you get it? And of course the hat itself is cute. I might have to look into making myself one for next year.:)

  5. KC says:

I love the fabric. Really funky!

  6. Annie says:

    “Jaunty” is just right!

I think a beginner could make this, surely. The instructions are a bit convoluted but after a thorough read it makes sense.

I got the fabric from Tonic Living based in Ontario. They have a lot of great choices! ” CHEBUCTO ” in the coupon code gives you 10% off.

Thanks so much everyone and thank you Lisa’s sister! It feels so good to hear that others are trying recipes I enjoy!
