Crouching Tiger

For some unknown and outrageous (at least to me!) reason Leif woke up this morning at 6 am. He went downstairs to have a pee and look for Cam who was about to leave for work. Leif was still sleepy and Cam brought him back upstairs. He wasn’t happy to be brought back to bed. He wanted Cam to stay home with him but after being offered a sip of water and nurse, he was back to sleep quickly. Sleeping in the same bed and breastfeeding make parenting so much easier!

We had to listen to one of our favourite albums this morning, Family Tree by Frances England. Here’s the song running through my head so early this morning. You can click on the song’s title to hear a sample! Click here to more hear samples of this awesome album. It’s worth it!

Sleepyhead Mommy

When I wake up early in the morning
The first thing I always see
Is your smiling eyes dancing
Big circles right around me

I’m a sleepyhead mommy, don’t want to wake up
Want to stay in bed some more
But the day is breaking early, as always
So we get up, we get out the door

A new day again (baa baa bad daaa daaa)
So much to do, to comprehend
I’ll show you my way and you can show me your way
And if in doubt, we’ll just pretend

When I wake up early in the morning
The first thing I always see
Is a superhero magical princess
Dancing circles right around me

I’m a sleepyhead mommy, don’t want to wake up
Want to stay in bed some more
But the day is breaking early, as always
So we get up, we get out the door

Spinning the light

Love it, and I agree completely. What a sweet song too. I have a sleeping baby on me, but I’m going to go look that album up later.

What a sweet song :) Occasionally my youngest gets up ultra early like that and he’ll come and snuggle in the bed which I just cherish :)

Very apt for my 5.30!!!!! Start this morning. Lovely lyrics. Not sure why but babe number two always has bright eyes early. I awake to them sparkling and bathe in his sunshine. Couldn’t be a happier co-sleeping, breast-feeding, sleepyhead, mumma…. Except maybe if it all started at 7 ;)

My goodness Annie, Leif is just so beautiful.

Our days start early too, and I’m just not a morning person. But I’m working on it. Isaac will snuggle in and play around me a bit until I’m coherent enough to get myself up.

We had a similar morning; Isaac always wants Fred to stay home, but this morning he sat at the front door crying, begging daddy to stay home. Oh my poor heart. We went and watched him drive away from the window and then crawled back into bed to snuggle. I think it helped. :) xo

Loved that song! Adding to my to-find list. I love peaceful family-inspired music and her voice is awesome.

Co-sleeping, breast feeding, and easy schedules are definitely how we spent/spend our mornings. So nice to awaken at 6:00 or 9:00 or anywhere in between without a need to rush or feel like I couldn’t make up that (lack of) rest later in the day or the next day. A nice balance for meeting needs.

I’m so glad I was able to figure out how to attach the song to the post. She’s so fantastic! I’m also glad to not be the only one woken early from time to time. I love to sleep in but I absolutely cherish those first waking moments with my little ones.
