Ah, snow. I love it. I’m not sure how long it plans to stick around here but I’m hopeful. I know I’m in the in the minority because most people who live on the island appreciate the usually mild weather. I find Winter that feels more like long wet grey Spring dreary and depressing. Winter is an important season because it represents a low time in the yearly cycle. It’s a time to rest and rejuvenate. Snow also makes Winter fun!

Walk in the snow

We walked to the store this afternoon to get some matches. It was lovely! We popped the skiis on our stroller and Oscar on a leash. Oscar is at home in the snow and immediately wants to play! Coming from living in a place that snows, we’re well prepared and laughed outrageously as we passed people on the snowy street in sneakers (without socks!) and shorts while in our tall Sorel boots and down coats.

Walk in the snow

There aren’t better times to mediate and reflect on life than when shovelling snow. The only sound being the crunch of the snow underfoot and the shovel scraping as it scoops up the snow. I always have to beat Cam to the job. I think he feels it’s his manly duty and will look bad in front of the neighbours if they see me doing it but I’m a master shovelled (at least in my own eyes!) and I relish the job.

Normally we pull the stroller on leads that attach where the front wheels are but because we were going into parking lots we opted for the wheels in case there were bare spots. It was so easy to push threw the snow.

Wow, you are a master poster today! It’s been nice to read your updates while I procrastinate on my work:)

I’m with ya on snow – I quite like it but it’s the ice I could do without. Our old home was pretty perfect – snow but only mildly cold. It was -16 when I went out today. Absolutely balmy compared to the -32 on Sunday night. I selfishly hope it stays in the -1 to -8 range up on the mountain next week. Woo hoo I can hardly wait!

Ha! I know, which is crazy because it’s been such a busy day. I’ve taken Lily to swimming, cleaned my house, shovelled twice, went for a walk, made supper…

I still think you should consider blogging.

-16 would be FREEZING here. I quite like that weather and even colder if it’s dry but it’s the wet that kills me. I want to go into the mountains! Cam was suggesting we try criss cross skiing here tomorrow if the snow stays. I’d be up for that!

That sounds nice…. I so miss our dog walks and skis in cranny. You’ve probably checked your email but if not – I’m hoping there’s opportunity for a ski over the holidays.

I’m so with you on the wet. I wear as many clothes in -16 here as I do in +8 there. People think I’m crazy but wet makes cold so much more so!

I’d much rather have snow with my winter than not. I want four very distinct seasons, thank you very much! lol

    I love your boots.

    I haven’t checked my email… yet… but I will now.

“I want four very distinct seasons, thank you very much! ” Exactly!
