“Annie… Annie…” I hear being whispered up at my window while I sleep.

“Psssst… Annie, open your window….”

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

I stumble around looking for my pants… no wait, where are my glasses… I recognise the voice outside so reassure Cam and the kids to go back to sleep.

It’s my friend Courtney from down the street and at first I’m wondering if she’s inviting me for a walk with the dogs at… 6:50am?!!? WAY too early in the morning for me. I’m wondering if I shouldn’t have mentioned I’d seen her the other morning walking her dogs and had considered joining her.

I’m a wreak at the door but Courtney’s usual cheery smile puts a smile on my face too. Hey, it’s pretty gorgeous out this early morning. She’s woken me to take a picture of the moon. I’d missed snapping a shot of it the night before so I actually appreciate the gesture. If I can only make my brain understand how to work my camera…. and find my birks.

We sneak into the backyard of some sleeping person’s house and snap a few shots. Me, in my tank top, jogging pants and pink down coat and Courtney in her pink flannel pj’s (Eek! Cat’s out of the bag now, Courtney!). We’re a sight. It takes me a minute to identify the slightly confused but thoroughly humoured face of the guy that drives by as we walk back to my house.

So here it is, the photo of the so called Super Moon. Brilliantly orange and hanging over Dodge Cove across the harbour from where I live. I wish I’d captured it better but just being there and seeing it with my own eyes was enough.

Beautiful pictures Annie! It was hiding behind trees for us, which is funny because usually we can see it from here. I think I looked for it too late. Oh well, looking at all the pictures is great too!

OMGosh….SO funny! You have fun friends. We saw this amazing moon, too last night and I wanted to sit outside and stare at it for a long while, cuddled under blankets, but it was clear that everyone needed sleep and help to transition to that place, so I came in and wished for moon magic to happen in the garden instead :)

It photographed beautifully for you, and the emerging dawn made it just pop. Happy week to you!!

that’s beautiful! Our moon was just very bright, it didn’t look bigger or anything. Your pictures make it look so big it’s almost startling….well worth the early wake-up call, I’m sure!

I’m happy she woke me too! Maybe not right at the very being woken moment of course but it was a moment I’m glad I didn’t miss.

Thanks everyone! I think it could have been a better picture but I wasn’t sure how to do it!

Grace, I believe the moon is at it’s closest to the earth as it’s setting, which makes it look extra big. I loved that it was orange too!

lol I kept thinking… Gosh what will Cam think… He’ll think I’ve gone Bonkers… What if they call the ‘police’… I was even thinking – maybe I should go in and get her!… haha Whew, I’m glad I didn’t! :) It WAS beautiful and even better that I was able to share it with a special and kindred spirit! Thanks Annie – you are LOVELY! Ohhh, and they were my Pink Plaid Fleece PJs!!… the other neighbours are used to seeing me in PJs… I think! haha xoxox

Wow!! You got terrific shots! And a great story to boot. I only saw it early in the evening and it wasn’t nearly as impressive. Hurray for clear skies!

Holy Moley! Great picture! I guess I guess I went out too early the previous evening because I was completely unimpressed! (it was full, but totally regular sized)
